We were fortunate to stay at this Mandawa Fort that has been converted into a heritage hotel.  The fort of Mandawa was founded in the 18th century. It dominates the town with a painted arched gateway adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows. Rooms in the palace are decorated with paintings of Lord Krishna, exquisite carvings and amazing mirror work.

The fort is located in the middle of the town, in the Rajasthan region of India. Mandawa is part of the Shekhawati region and is well known for its numerous havelis, the private mansions noted for their frescoes depicting images of gods, goddesses, animals, scenes from the British colonization, and the life stories of Lords Rama and Krishna.

Mandawa is an open air museum and a must-see for anyone traveling in Rajasthan.
