Discovering Bordeaux, France

This post is also available in: French

I just discovered an incredibly rich and beautiful region.  And it is in my own country, not very far from home.  Bordeaux and its region is just incredible. Sure, I’ve drunk wines from Bordeaux (actually, they are some of my favorite ones), I’ve heard and read about the famous Châteaux and properties, but actually getting to see these was an incredible and very pleasant surprise.

We arrived in the region using the Ferry from Blaye.  And our first sights were for these incredible Châteaux in the Medoc. The Vendanges have just started in some of the properties, and we get to meet some people gathering the grapes.

We were welcomed to take pictures as we liked.  People were really open and friendly.

And the city of Bordeaux is also quite amazing.  It has been beautifully cleaned (at least the center of the city and the part along the Garonne River). This housing project is actually a Unesco World Heritage Site.

This city is a delight by night, a lot of people are walking around the old part of the city, which is mainly pedestrians.  Lots of great restaurants around.

We only spent four days in and around the city.  There is so much more to be seen. We’ll definitely return to Bordeaux very soon.  A very pleasant discovery.
