Ces rainettes aux yeux rouges de couleurs vives vivent dans les for\u00eats tropicales humides du Costa Rica. Le corps de cet amphibien embl\u00e9matique est vert lime avec les flancs ray\u00e9s de bleu et jaune, et du blanc le long du bas-ventre et les jambes int\u00e9rieures.<\/p>\n
Malgr\u00e9 leur surprenante coloration, tr\u00e8s vive, les rainettes aux yeux rouges ne sont pas v\u00e9n\u00e9neuses. La caract\u00e9ristique la plus marquante de la callidryas Agalychnis est la couleur rouge vif de leurs yeux. Cette couleur vive est une d\u00e9fense naturelle contre les pr\u00e9dateurs potentiels. Si elles sont d\u00e9rang\u00e9es, ces grenouilles ouvrent leurs grands yeux rouges et exposent leurs pieds orange brillant. Les oiseaux et les serpents sont souvent tellement surpris par les \u00e9clairs soudains de couleur qu’ils h\u00e9sitent momentan\u00e9ment pendant de pr\u00e9cieuses secondes, ce qui permet \u00e0 la grenouille de s’\u00e9chapper.<\/p>\n
Carnivores nocturnes, ces grenouilles se camouflent dans la canop\u00e9e et et tendent des embuscades aux insectes et aux papillons, et parfois \u00e0 des grenouilles plus petites, en utilisant leur longue langue collante.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
