En 1929, Menton est encore le premier producteur de citron d’Europe. Un h\u00f4telier a l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019organiser une exposition de fleurs et d\u2019agrumes dans les jardins de l\u2019H\u00f4tel Riviera. Le succ\u00e8s est tel que l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, la f\u00eate descend dans la rue : des chariots d\u2019arbustes plant\u00e9s d\u2019oranges et de citrons \u00e9voluent avec de charmantes Mentonnaises. La municipalit\u00e9, d\u00e9sireuse de d\u00e9velopper le tourisme, cherche \u00e0 donner au d\u00e9fil\u00e9 une couleur typiquement locale —\u00a0la F\u00eate du Citron\u00ae na\u00eet en 1934.<\/p>\n
