It was a festival day in Santa Catarina Palopo when we arrived there. The whole village was watching a few young people costumed as devils and spirits dancing around the streets. These two woman were quietly waiting.
Santa Catarina Palopo is one of the many Mayan villages located around the Lake Atitlan, a beautiful high altitude lake in the Guatemalan Highlands surrounded by three volcanoes, San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan. It is said to be the most beautiful lake in the world, and I am inclined to believe this.
